As The Verge points out, Steam Deck and Proton support anti-cheat solutions such as Easy Anti-Cheat and BattlEye. Why Bungie is so averse to the Steam Deck is unclear. “Players who attempt to bypass Destiny 2 incompatibility will be met with a game ban,” the developer added. Players who attempt to launch Destiny 2 on the Steam Deck through SteamOS or Proton will be unable to enter the game and will be returned to their game library after a short time,” writes Bungie. “Destiny 2 is not supported for play on the Steam Deck or on any system utilizing Steam Play’s Proton unless Windows is installed and running. In an update to its help page, Bungie didn’t just say that Destiny 2 is not compatible with the handheld game console, but that players could be banned for trying to bypass Destiny 2’s incompatibility. As players enjoy the launch of the latest expansion of Destiny 2 in The Witch Queen, for those who intend on playing the game on Valve’s Steam Deck, Bungie has some advice – don’t. ![]()
